Blueye is a small but growing technology company that designs, manufactures, sells, and supports robust and user-friendly underwater technology for professional customers around the world.


We just celebrated our 10-year anniversary in June and are currently in a strong growth phase.

Our team is multidisciplinary and includes highly skilled professionals across sales, marketing, design, content creation, manufacturing and production, electronics design, mechanical design, and software development. We are 20 employees representing 7 different nationalities. At Blueye, we develop complete products and focus on the user experience from start to finish.

We are looking to expand our technical team with a Senior Electronics Engineer who has 3–5 years of experience across the full electronics development cycle.

At Blueye, you will work hands-on and be deeply involved in all aspects of developing underwater technology. Your experience will immediately be put to use in designing new PCBs and solving technical challenges for our next-generation products.

As part of a small company, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute beyond your core area of expertise. You may also be involved in activities such as content creation, marketing, training, customer support, and attending trade shows and events—making your workdays varied and engaging.

Recruitment process:

  • Job listing published 1st of July

  • Application deadline 15th of August

  • Evaluation of candidates start on the 18th of August

  • Two interviews (first either onsite or digital, second onsite in Trondheim)

  • Second interview with technical presentation

  • Sign contract with selected candidate by end of September

Job requirements

Knowledge and experience in:

  • 3–5 years of experience in circuit design

  • Full electronics development cycle: from concept to prototype to mass production

  • Working on complex electromechanical projects

  • Altium Designer: schematic and PCB design, Altium 365, library management, and production file generation

  • Use of electronics lab tools (oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.) and hands-on lab experience

  • Board-level rework and debugging

  • Power electronics: DC-to-DC converters, lithium-ion batteries, and battery management systems (BMS)

  • Microcontrollers and single-board computers

  • Communication protocols such as UART, RS-232/485, I²C, and SPI

  • Interest in underwater robotics

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple ongoing projects

  • Willingness to work on a variety of tasks

  • Comfortable using English as a working language

  • Designing and testing for robustness and safety

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with electronics manufacturers

  • Knowledge of other tools such as Onshape and embedded Linux to support collaboration with the mechanical and software teams

  • Experience with 3D printing

  • Proficiency in both Norwegian and English

  • Experience with certification according to safety and EMC standards

In these ten years, we have developed ROVs that are compact, robust and user-friendly, enabling critical work in places that were once difficult or costly to access.

Our office is located by the habour in Trondheim, a prime location for testing drones and underwater technolgy in real-life contiditons.
